The Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW water-cooled modular ice machine produces up to 540 LB of half-sized cube ice each day. Ice-O-Matic designed the cabinet of the ICE0500HW as an Ultra low profile model. The cabinet is constructed with a stainless steel exterior front plate and fingerprint-proof plastic side exterior panels. Furthermore, the functional design of the Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW saves space, at only 20" high and just over 30" wide. Plus, for more installation options, the water-cooled unit does not require air vent clearance on the right side or back of the unit, since the water-cooled condenser does not require air circulation. Therefore, you can install the unit in narrow spaces or directly adjacent to other equipment.
The Half Cube ice that the Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW produces measures 7/8" x 7/8" x 3/8". The smaller cube works well in dispensers because the cubes are less likely to jam the dispensing mechanism. Plus more Half Cube ice can fit in each glass, so there is less beverage per serving, saving you money.
Note that the Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW requires a 115 volt electrical connection for proper functioning. It also requires 2 incoming water lines (one potable water line for ice-making and a second water line for cooling the condenser). Because the ICE0500HW is water-cooled, it needs an external drain that can handle the volume of water that includes both the run off from ice making AND the cooling of the condenser. The Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW requires mounting on another piece of equipment that can hold ice, such as an ice storage bin, a beverage dispenser, or an ice dispenser. Please consider the fact that overall, the water-cooled Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW will use a lot of water. First, it uses 29.9 gallons of water to produce 100 pounds of ice. Then the water-cooled condenser also requires more water (up to another 132 gallons per 100 pounds of ice produced which can total 713 gallons of water during a full 24 hours of ice-making). This waste-water is ALL drained out of the unit. However, there is some saving on electricity with water-cooled models, since along with not requiring electricity for cooling fans, Ice-O-Matic has incorporated its Harvest-Assist technology to help remove ice from the evaporator surface more quickly, shortening the ice-making cycle. Less time means less electrical consumption.
In addition, due to the electroless nickel plating on the evaporator plate in the ICE0500HW, the damaging effects of water and ice on the evaporator plate are prevented. The growth of bacteria, slime, and fungus on internal surfaces where water touches is reduced because the Ice-O-Matic ICE0500HW has the antimicrobial compound called AgIon incorporated into the internal surfaces.
