The Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW undercounter ice maker produces 251 pounds of of Half Cube ice every 24 hours, under optimal temperature conditions of 70 degrees air and 50 degrees water. This Ice-O-Matic model produces their half cube ice with dimensions of 3/8 inches x 7/8 inches x 7/8 inches. The half cube is great for use in ice dispensers since the smaller cube is less likely to jam the mechanism than a larger cube. Retailers also like the half cube because more cubes fit in a glass, meaning less beverage per serving.
The Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW has an internal water-cooled condenser and a self-contained storage bin with a capacity of up to 74 pounds of ice. The undercounter model can be installed in most locations because it is a mere 24.5 inches wide and 39 inches tall. As with any water-cooled condenser, there is no need for any air vent so there is no need for clearance on the sides of the unit. As long as there are two incoming water lines (one for making ice and one for cooling the condenser), a water drain for all the waste water, and the required 115 volt electrical power, the Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW can be installed.
Since the water-cooled condenser utilizes less electricity, the Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW only consumes 6.6 kWh while producing each 100 pounds of ice. However, the Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW does use a significantly higher volume of water, since water is used for making the ice AND for cooling the condenser. The ice maker turns 37.1 gallons of water into 100 pounds of ice. The condenser uses additional water to transfer heat and cool down. All of that waste water from the condenser is drained out of the unit, approximately 175 gallons of water per 100 pounds of ice produced. There are several benefits to the water-cooled condenser, however. The Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HW does have a slightly higher ice production rate than the related air-cooled model, the ice maker is quieter since there are no fans running, and the unit does not discharge hot air into the surrounding location.
